Horror Moment Dog Owner Realizes Where Her Missing Diamond Ring Is

The disappearance of a valuable diamond ring sparked panic for one US family until the unlikely culprit was discovered.

In a video posted to TikTok under the handle michlivinlife, a woman by the name of Michaela explained how she recently got a call from her mom “sobbing that she can’t find her ring.”

It goes without saying that the loss of a wedding ring is a costly one. In 2023, wedding planning website The Knot estimated the average cost of a bride’s engagement ring was in the region of $5,500.

Michaela’s mom’s ring likely carried additional sentimental value on top of any cash worth. Losing it would have been heartbreaking. Fortunately, for Michaela’s family, the ring had not gone far. Unfortunately for them, where it had gone was somewhere that made it retrieving it an unsavory prospect.

According to the video shared to social media, when Michaela first got the panicked call from her mom she feared the worst. But then she noticed her dog “acting funny.”

Putting two and two together, Michaela got in touch with her cousin to ask if they could borrow his metal detector. Her father then did a sweep of the dog with the device in a moment captured on camera by Michaela. Watch it here.

Sure enough, the metal detector began to beep furiously when placed on the dog’s stomach. Michaela then confirmed, via the inclusion of an X-ray in the video, that the dog had swallowed her mother’s ring.

Footage of the incident has now been watched over 7.8 million times on TikTok with many quick to see the funny side of it all. “A diamond in the ruff,” one amused viewer quoted. “She’s just holding onto it for safekeeping,” a second added with a third writing: “At least it’s in a safe place.”

Some wonder if, once retrieved, the mother would be happy to wear the ring again. “She will never look at the ring the same way,” one said. “Ah the memories.” One user suggested: “You can take it back to the jeweler and they’ll replace it for free. My dog ate my infinity ring and Helzberg exchanged it for free.”

Another wonder how it happened in the first place. “Mom shouldn’t be taking that off her finger ever,” they said. Others, henceforth, shared memories of similar acts of theft. “Well, my friend’s dog ate my front teeth/bridge,” one wrote. “My dog ate my mom’s anxiety meds out the bottom of the trash,” another said.
