TRIBUN-BALI.COM, DENPASAR – The Bali Police, through the Ditreskrimsus Bali Police, succeeded in uncovering a criminal case of human trafficking (TPPO) and prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI).

This was conveyed by the Public Relations Division of the Bali Police and the Bali Police Ditreskrimsus through a press conference held in the lobby of the Bali Police Ditreskrimsus Office on Tuesday 20 June 2023.

On this occasion, the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Regional Police, Commissioner Pol. Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto said that the suspect in the case was a man from Jakarta named M. Akbar Gusmawan (33).

“The case that is of concern to us is related to TIP. “In this case, the suspect is M. Akbar Gusmawan,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police.

The modus operandi, said the Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, was to recruit CPMI to promise them work in Japan.

“The modus operandi was that the suspect recruited prospective Indonesian migrant workers or CPMI by promising to send CPMI placements to Japan,” explained Police Commissioner. Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto.

However, the company founded by M. Akbar Gusmawan did not have a permit to place Indonesian migrant workers (SIP2MI).

“Without having a permit for the placement of Indonesian migrant workers (SIP2MI),” he added.

Wadirreskrimsus Bali Police AKBP Ranefli Dian Candra said that the number of victims in the TPPO and CPMI cases was more than 280 people with total losses reaching IDR 3.8 billion.

“More than 280 workers have registered and become victims. “The loss is quite large, 3.8 m (billion rupiah),” said AKBP Ranefli Dian Candra.

The disclosure of this case began, said the Deputy Director of Criminal and Criminal Investigation of the Bali Regional Police, with a report made by Ida Bagus Putu Arimbawa (27) CPMI and also the victim in the crime.

It is known that Arimbawa made a report to the Bali Police on December 16 2022.

AKBP Ranefli Dian Candra said that Arimbawa had registered as a migrant worker since November 2021 but had never left.

“Starting from a report by Ida Bagus Putu Arimbawa, who had registered as a prospective worker from November 2021, had received training, but had not yet departed.”
